description

Ligature f/v in the font Baskervvol, created by the collective Bye Bye Binary between 2018 and 2021. Baskervvol is a reworking by BBB of the Atelier National de Recherche Typographique (ANRT) Baskervville, itself a reworking of Claude Jacob's 1784 Baskerville, designed by John Baskerville in 1750. John Baskerville is an exemplary case of the invisibilisation of women in the history of typography. Sarah Eaves, his companion and business partner, who took over the printing business after Baskerville's death, has never been credited for her work, although she was heavily involved in the development of typefaces and prints marketed by her husband. Since 2018, the Baskervvol has been collectively augmented with inclusive glyphs.
